“A New Day, A New Mission”
Scripture Reference: “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” — Isaiah 43:19
Have you ever stood at the threshold of a new season, a fresh opportunity, and felt both excitement and trepidation? Today marks such a moment. In the grand narrative of our lives, God often ushers us into new chapters when we least expect it, much like Moses and the burning bush, or David being called from the sheepfold to the throne.
Perhaps this year, when we celebrate MLK Day and gather with purpose, God is stirring something new within us. It could be a calling, a mission, or simply a fresh perspective on an old situation.
For me, this day will resonate with Isaiah’s words: “I will do a new thing.” Whether you are working to transform “Sin City” into Salvation City or navigating your personal wilderness, God’s promise is to make a way. He turns deserts into rivers and barren places into fertile ground.
But here’s the catch: We have to recognize it. “Shall ye not know it?” the Lord asks. Are we too preoccupied with the noise of yesterday to hear His whisper today? Are we so caught up in our routines that we miss the miraculous?
Reflection Questions:
- What is the “new thing” God might be calling you to recognize today?
- In what ways can you step into this new chapter with faith, even if you feel unprepared?
- Who can you partner with in this journey to encourage and uplift one another?
A Simple Prayer:
Lord, today we stand on the edge of something new. Open our eyes to see Your hand in the small and the grand. Let us not be so consumed by the past or distracted by the present that we miss Your movement. Guide our steps, and may we bring Your light to the darkest places. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
