Remembering Karen Schuler: A Legacy of Love

Karen Schuler, ministry partner, Marv’s wife, and one of the co-pastors of the Moreno Valley Vineyard Christian Fellowship who followed me as Lead Pastor died last night at around midnight. I’m sure she was surrounded by her family and now Marv Schuler, my good friend, has lost his rock. She was a mother to many. She met Jesus in a mental hospital when he came to her and healed her mind.

She and her first husband Phil, owned a ranch in Moreno Valley. After the Moreno Valley “traditional” Vineyard Church closed we took the last of the money in the church account and poured concrete at what became known as “The Ranch.” and began our ministry to skaters, bikers and other outlaws and the women who liked to watch them.Marv and I had a moment to comfort one another and to invite the Great Comforter to come to us in our grief. I had lunch with our other co-laborer yesterday. Tom Chapman, who contributed to the skate ministry in many ways. He bought me a BLT and we talked of the days to come and about the extreme heat in Needles. I wonder if God can use old men to change the world. But right now, I know that Karen is happy with her friend Jesus, and with John and Carol Wimber who she knew well. I wrote about our exploits at the Ranch in my book, No One Turns Down the Blessing. But all of the stories aren’t in that book, they are in our hearts. Rest now Karen, we will see you soon around the bend in the road that leads to the promised land.
