Today is National Coffee Day.
America is apparently running on coffee.
Not me.
I prefer tea.Yes, I said it. On National Coffee Day.
Somewhere a coffee shop just put my picture on the wall.
But here in the Green Zone, we believe in freedom. Coffee people can drink coffee. Tea people can drink tea. Dr Pepper people can probably find a seat at my table too.
No condemnation. John 3:17.That may be the official beverage policy of Green Zone America.The truth is, I like the simple stuff: a warm cup, a little peace, a little laughter, and enough grace to make it through the next few hours without arguing with anybody.That is Green Zone living.
Less fighting.
More kindness.
Less judging.
More room at the table.
And preferably something cold to drink when it gets hot outside.
Coffee can wake you up, but grace can straighten out your attitude.Tea can calm you down, but mercy can keep you from saying what you were just about to say.
And Jesus can somehow turn an ordinary morning into another chance to begin again.
So happy National Coffee Day to all my coffee-drinking friends.
Drink up.
I’ll be over here with my tea, trying to stay human, stay spiritual, stay kind, and stay out of trouble.That last one may require a refill.
