Surrender to Wisdom!

Proverbs 8 — The Art of Getting Out of God’s Way There’s a difference between having wisdom and surrendering to wisdom.Having wisdom means you know what’s right. Surrendering to wisdom means you actually do it!

Solomon puts wisdom out on the street corner in Proverbs 8, shouting to anybody willing to listen. She’s not selling anything. She’s giving away something more valuable than gold. And here’s the catch: You have to stop talking long enough to listen!

Proverbs 8:34 (KJV)> “Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.”

Notice that word daily. Not just Sunday morning. Not just when the wheels fall off your truck. Not just when you’re lying in a hospital bed negotiating with God! Every single day. Surrender isn’t giving up on life. It’s giving up the foolish notion that you can run your life better than God can. Jesus modeled it in Gethsemane: “Not my will, but thine, be done.” And maybe that’s the secret to growing up before we grow old. We don’t surrender our humanity. We surrender our arrogance. We don’t stop thinking. We start listening. We don’t abandon freedom. We discover what freedom is actually for.Wisdom doesn’t demand that we stop dancing. She teaches us to follow the Leader! That’s Green Zone living. Freedom matched by grace. And common sense empowered by love.

A prayer of surrender

Lord Jesus, I surrender my pride, my plans, my fears, and my need to be right. Give me the wisdom to know Your way, the courage to follow it, and the grace to get up when I stumble.I’m still learning to dance, Lord. You lead. I’ll follow. Amen! Here’s the question: What if surrendering to wisdom isn’t losing control, but finally trusting the One who knows where we’re going? Can I get an AMEN now?
